Challenge to Change, to close

It is with much sadness that we announce the closure of our Vietnam programme in August 2014. Challenge to Change (CtC) began its work in 2008 when the threat of climate change to poor communities in Vietnam was only just becoming apparent. We began as leaders in this field, and we championed the needs of the most vulnerable, especially prioritising the needs of women already impacted by increasingly extreme weather events. We also advocated and succeeded in raising the voice of Youth in climate change debate, because Youth are the key stakeholders of the future. Our programmes have improved the lives and capacities of beneficiaries and local partner organisations in 6 provinces. Regretfully however, our own organisational capacity and sustainability is limited. In April 2014, with insufficient funding to maintain a robust operation in Vietnam, the Board of Trustees made the sad but necessary decision that the Vietnam programme should close.
